PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

AIR Conference members receive and participate in the following:

Advisory Board Meetings
Held quarterly at locations chosen by the membership, enable human resources/labor relations/legal officers to discuss and exchange information on labor and personnel problems of common interest. Many of the meetings have special themes including: Benefits, Discrimination and Personnel Law, Compensation, Railway Labor Act, Employee Communications, and Arbitration.

Wage Rate Surveys
Provide information on wage rates and work rules for nearly all of the major and national scheduled air carriers in the United States. The major classes and crafts of organized and unorganized airline personnel listed below are among the groups surveyed by AIR Conference:

  • Pilots
  • Agent and Clerical
  • Flight Attendants
  • Mechanic and Related
  • Dispatchers
  • Miscellaneous Employees

Group Benefit Plan Surveys
Begun in 1989, provide a database in which to assess significant trends in benefit plan design, cost issues and related factors influencing the airlines employee relations climate. Areas covered include health, life, disability and retirement plans. All major employee groups are reviewed, including management and part-time employees.

Review of Collective Bargaining
Published often, gives the reader a timely rundown on all bargaining and organizing activity in the airline industry.

Arbitration Reporter
Provides a comprehensive index of and access to arbitration awards of the airline industry. The Reporter, which is updated monthly, arranges cases by employer, union, subject and arbitrator, and includes case summaries.

Legal Services
Represents member airlines through amicus briefs and other involvement in judicial and agency proceedings. AIR Conference follows, reports on, and participates in airline litigation involving substantial questions of airline labor law. In addition, AIR Conference publishes the Litigation Update, a summary of significant airline labor and personnel legal cases.

Current Labor News
AIR CONFERENCE NEWS CLIPS scans major national and local print media on a weekly basis for labor news of special interest.

Oversight of Federal Agencies
Activities which can impact the airline industry is a key function of the AIR Conference. We monitor regulatory and other initiatives by the National Mediation Board and the Federal Aviation Administration and advise the agencies of the concerns and needs of our member carriers.

Regulatory and Legislative Update
Provides a periodic, comprehensive review of the substance and status of state and federal regulatory and legislative activity affecting airline industrial relations and personnel.

Special Labor Data Reports & Survey Requests
Include articles, special surveys requested by individual carriers and a variety of labor data and information.

AIR Conference Personnel Directory
Lists the names, addresses and telephone numbers of key airline personnel and industrial relations staff of the scheduled air carriers.
